The Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR) will be changing its name to the New Zealand Institute for Public Health and Forensic Science (PHF Science) on 1 July 2025. The virology annual and weekly reports were compiled by ESR by collating the data from virology and microbiology laboratories. The virological surveillance is mainly a passive surveillance for hospital inpatients and outpatients during routine viral diagnosis.
