Angela holds a PhD in Population Studies from the University of Southampton and a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Pisa.

About

Angela is a Science Leader on Climate Health Impacts at ESR where she leads the development and implementation of the organisation's climate and health strategy, focusing on the unique needs of Aotearoa New Zealand and Pacific Island communities. Angela's work is based on creating people-centred, climate-resilient health strategies to address both immediate and long-term health risks posed by climate change. Previously, Angela served as the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Global Technical Lead on Climate Action and the Regional Advisor on Population and Development for UNFPA in the East and Southern Africa Regional Office, where she developed and led evidence-based policy initiatives to address climate and health challenges. Angela was an Associate Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where she currently holds an honorary appointment. She has also contributed her expertise to organisations such as UNICEF Ethiopia and the UK Government's Department for International Development (DFID), focusing on population and development issues. Angela's career spans academia, donor governments, United Nations agencies, and other international organisations, where she has delivered evidence-based solutions to advance the sustainable development agenda and improve the well-being of people and the planet.
