The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 638 non-human Salmonella isolates in 2024 compared with 626 in 2023.

There was a decrease in the number of:

  • S. Agona (14 in 2023 vs. 9 in 2024);
  • S. Emek (16 in 202 vs. 7 in 2024);
  • S. Enteritidis (29 in 2023 vs. 16 in 2024);
  • S. Give (57 in 2023 vs. 43 in 2024);
  • S. Hindmarsh (62 in 2023 vs. 33 in 2024);
  • S. Livingstone (17 in 2023 vs. 6 in 2024);
  • S. Saintpaul (15 in 2023 vs. 9 in 2024)

There was an increase in the number of:

  • S. Brandenburg (39 in 2023 vs. 58 in 2024);
  • S. Typhimurium (190 in 2023 vs. 282 in 2024)
January

The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 17 non-human Salmonella isolates in January 2024 compared with 42 in January 2023.

There was a decrease in the number of S. Bovismorbificans (6 in 2023 versus 3 in 2024) and S. Hindmarsh (7 in 2023 versus 3 in 2024) and S. Typhimurium (9 in 2023 versus 2 in 2024)

February

The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 19 non-human Salmonella isolates in February 2024 compared with 63 in February 2023.

There was a decrease in the number of Poultry isolates (17 in 2023 versus 2 in 2024), Salmonella Enteritidis isolates (13 in 2023 versus 0 in 2024) and Salmonella Typhimurium isolates (12 in 2023 versus 2 in 2024).

March

The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 31 non-human Salmonella isolates in March 2024 compared with 65 March 2023.

There was a decrease in the number of S. Handmarsh (11 in 2023 versus 3 in 2024) and S. Typhimurium (32 in 2023 versus 12 in 2024)

April

The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 34 non-human Salmonella isolates in April 2023 compared with 60 April 2023.

There was a decrease in the number of S. Give isolates (17 in 2023 versus 3 in 2024)

May

The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 45 non-human Salmonella isolates in May 2023 compared with 64 May 2022.

There was a decrease in the number of S. Hindmarsh isolates (18 in 2023 versus 6 in 2024)

June

The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 22 non-human Salmonella isolates in June 2024 compared with 42 June 2023.

There was a decrease in the number S. Bovismorbificans isolates (9 in 2023 versus 2 in 2024) and S. Hindmarsh isolates (7 in 2023 versus 2 in 2024)

July

The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 43 non-human Salmonella isolates in July 2024 compared with 38 July 2023.

There was an increase in the number of S. Bovismorbificans isolates (2 in 2023 vs 5 in 2024), and S. Hindmarsh isolates (2 in 2023 vs 6 in 2024).

August

The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 90 non-human Salmonella isolates in August 2024 compared with 90 in August 2023.

There was an increase in the number of S. Typhimurium isolates (31 in 2023 vs 40 in 2024) and Food isolates (3 in 2023 vs 11 in 2024).

September

The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 147 non-human Salmonella isolates in September 2024 compared with 70 September 2023.

There was an increase in the number of Bovine isolates (47 in 2023 vs. 118 in 2024).

October

The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 96 non-human Salmonella isolates in October 2024 compared with 42 October 2023.

There was an increase in the number of Bovine isolates (29 in 2023 versus 72 in 2024).

November

The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 57 non-human Salmonella isolates in November 2024 compared with 32 November 2023.

There was an increase in the number of Bovine isolates (22 in 2023 versus 22 in 2024) and Feed isolates (0 in 2023 versus 6 in 2024)

December

The Enteric Reference Laboratory confirmed 37 non-human Salmonella isolates in December 2024 compared with 18 December 2023.

There was an increase in the number of Bovine isolates (8 in 2023 versus 30 in 2024)
