Our mission is to empower communities through science education in public health and justice, ensuring a healthier, safer, and fairer future for all New Zealanders.
About
Established in 2024, ESR Charitable Solutions Limited is a subsidiary of the Institute of Environmental Science and Research Limited (ESR), dedicated to advancing knowledge in our communities.
Our purpose is to carry out research, offer education, and deliver training and knowledge to improve understanding and create practical solutions to improve public health, health security and justice.
As a charitable organisation, we provide a new innovative way for donors and philanthropic partners to support science education initiatives and special projects that create meaningful impact for our communities.
Focus areas
Our work spans three areas:
- Public health: supporting healthier communities through education on disease prevention, environmental health, and wellbeing
- Health security: building resilience through education on infectious diseases, biosecurity, and emergency response.
- Justice: advancing knowledge in forensic science and justice systems to support fairness and safety in society.
Outreach
Our community engagement initiatives aim to connect science with the people it serves. Activities include:
- Hosting workshops and outreach programmes on marae.
- Offering student placements within ESR research teams.
- Showcasing our research through accessible community events.
- Participating in local community activities to share science with diverse audiences.
