Our work ranges from determining the health status of drinking-water supplies, to developing guidelines and resources to address the risk to public health from drinking-water quality, to conducting water supply assessments, including investigating the transmission of bacteria and viruses.

We undertake the annual review of drinking-water quality in New Zealand and maintain the register of community drinking-water supplies in New Zealand. We also administer the national programme for the identification of chemical contaminants in drinking-water.
