Facilitating service redesign
In partnership with the Ministry of Health, Addiction Treatment Services, we are supporting Capital and Coast DHB to develop change the model of care for those involved in Opioid Substitution Treatments (OST).
The aim is to ensure OST clients receive their care in the most appropriate setting, primary health care, or the secondary service. Historically it has proved very difficult to increase the percentage of OST clients receiving care in primary care settings.
Activities to provide this support include up-date interview data and analysis of interviews with OST practitioners, clients and pharmacies, development of desirable and feasible models that would support an increase in primary care provision of OST, convening and facilitating workshops of key stakeholders to critique and refine the models, provision of support to the DHB in designing a pilot implementation of the preferred model and designing a monitoring framework to extract and analyse learnings from the pilot.
