Our thoughts are with all those affected by the devastating natural events in the last month and in particular our Christchurch based clients. ESR’s drug testing services are based at the Kenepuru Science Centre in Porirua and were unaffected by the earthquake.
We have seen increased specimen numbers across all drug testing services. Urine testing continues to be the preferred option for most workplaces but oral fluid (saliva) and hair testing are proving popular in some sectors.

Hair Testing - It’s all good news! Improved efficiencies in ESR’s hair testing for drugs meaning faster reporting times and a reduced cost.
New Oral Fluid testing machine - ESR is introducing a new immunoassay machine for oral fluid testing. The new Randox Evidence Investigator gives us the capability to simultaneously screen a sample for a full array of drugs.
New urine collection kits - We are currently trialling new urine collection kits. These are designed to streamline the collection process and reduce specimen handling.
Revised drug testing brochures - A new range of brochures are now available online.
IANZ Accreditation - ESR’s Workplace Drug Testing laboratory is International Accreditation New Zealand IANZ accredited for urine testing under the AS/NZS 4308:2008 “Procedures for specimen collection and the detection and quantitation of drugs of abuse in urine”.
