A resource book for schools featuring ESR's diverse science and research has recently been distributed to every primary school in New Zealand.
Connected booklets by Learning Media for the Ministry of Education are designed to show science, technology and mathematics in the context of students everyday lives. Connected 2, 2009 features stories on ESR 's forensic science activities, molecular microbiology and its work at the National Influenza Centre.
The booklet is accompanied by teacher support material including background information, curriculum links and ideas for classroom activities. Feedback from teachers has been very positive particularly as the issue was produced just as the novel A(H1N1) 09 influenza pandemic hit the headlines. The booklets are kept by schools as a resource for a number of years.
