Scientific expertise

Staff in the Water Management Programme have a broad mix of skills and expertise that enable the group to look at water management in a cross-disciplinary manner.

ESR's scientific expertise includes:

• identification of current and potentially hazardous water contaminants through risk assessment, monitoring programmes and research;
• prioritisation of contamination issues and assessment of their potential impact on people;
• development of models of improved stakeholder involvement in complex decision-making processes;
• management of water quality through the application of knowledge and expertise in:
  • water source protection
  • effective water treatment and supply technologies
  • integrated information systems
