Some of the most complex issues involve people and organisations with multiple and conflicting viewpoints on planning and decision-making.
The Integrative Research for Sustainability (IRfS) Group is a multi-disciplinary team with expertise in:
- Public and environmental health
- Kaupapa Māori and bicultural research
- Systems thinking and modelling
- Participatory action research
- Sociology
- Environmental policy
- Operations research
- Management
- Psychology
- Water science.
The integrative approaches taken by the group recognise the need to include different agencies, policy agendas, stakeholders, communities, disciplines and evaluation measures. The IRfS Group aims to provide a ‘bigger picture’ understanding, leading to the identification of sustainable solutions or management strategies.
The IRfS Group covers three broad, interrelated areas of research:
Healthy Communities
Sustainable Development
Science, Technology, and Society
