This event explored trends in climate change research through the lens of ‘Science, Technology and Society’ (STS) studies. It offered an opportunity for critical reflection on the wider New Zealand climate change research agenda, and the implications for future directions in science, including transdisciplinary research and sustainability science.
We were also intererested in highlighting the importance of social science to climate change analysis and policy.

Links to overview and audio recording of briefing (held Tuesday 9 March 2010, 10.30am NZT) featuring two STS scientists (Prof Ian Lowe (Griffith University) and Dr Karen Cronin (ESR)) and examines the following questions:
- What is risk fatigue and how is it relevant to climate science?
- Is the challenge of climate change appropriately reflected in our wider national research, science and technology objectives?
- Are the demands of citizens, industry and policymakers being met through climate change research?
- What priorities do scientists themselves regard as important for the future?
