ESR collaborates with Maori and Pacific Island communities through formal research projects and local community programmes.
We have relationships with the iwi associated with our sites - Ngati Whatua, Ngati Toa and Ngai Tahu, and foster interactive partnerships with iwi, schools and community groups.
We also work with communities in the Pacific Islands:
- ESR has supported the New Caledonia drinking-water quality management programme since 2005. In 2009/10 we delivered training and advice on drinking water safety planning as part of a European Union-funded project.
- In Fiji we have been working with the village of Votua on drinking water and other health issues.
- We are involved in the Pacific-wide Drinking Water Safety Planning Programme.
Partners Porirua
The Partners Porirua Programme is a local initiative aimed at fostering relationships between schools and local businesses. ESR is involved in a 'hands on' science programme with local schools.
